The Secretariat of the Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS) organized a visit to the Republic of Kazakhstan on September 23-26, 2025 by Dr. Zakaria Kehel, head of the Genbank of the International Center for Agricultural Research in Drylands (ICARDA) in Morocco and Lebanon. As part of this trip, on September 24, IPBB visited Dr. Zakaria Kekhel, Dr. Akmal Akramkhanov, Head of the ICARDA Office in Central Asia, and Bakhytzhan Arystanbek, IOFS Project Manager.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The purpose of the visit was to get acquainted with the ongoing activities, including work in the field of cryopreservation and research on genetic resources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the meeting with the management and scientists of the Institute, the ICARDA experience was presented, prospects for cooperation were discussed, including opportunities for joint research, exchange of collections and development of scientific cooperation in the field of conservation and use of genetic resources. The guests got acquainted with the activities of the Institute’s research laboratories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
